•Your home is probably your largest investment and you will probably sell it someday. Improvement of your home, whether it falls in the line of major capital improvement (redesign of your kitchen, for example) or decorating your home (painting, for example) directly affects the selling process when it is time to sell. Always, consider whether the improvement you are making is equity building.
•I believe there is a relationship between design/decorating and preparing to sell the home. Final staging of your home before an open house is critical as you are showing space to a prospective buyer. This buyer is trying to envision living in your space. Your home is now a product. The preparation you have made in equity building design/decorating should support the goal to show this product.
• The time period that your home is on sale can be an anxious time.
It is important that the “Stager” or Certified Resale Ready Interior Refiner that is hired bear in mind that the home needs to meet the daily needs of family activity during this time. Checklists should be given and reviewed with the family so everyone can help in maintaining the
appearance of the home while it is on the market.
• The trained eye of the consultant you hire to help you prepare the home for sale should come to your home with the intention of preparing a product for sale. This can be difficult for the owner who views the property as a home. Selling your home with the help of a consultant is worth the relatively small investment. Prices range from $250-$1500 depending on services required. Remember, time is money and proper preparation can shorten the days on market.
